My Top 10 Interior Design inspiration for 2021

I really hope you had a great holiday time with your family, am I the only one or did the pandemic make us appreciate each other more? The lockdown made us realize how nice it is to have each other. So yes we spent a lot of time together and still are and you know what, it’s great! My thoughts go to those we don’t have a family or lost someone lately. I’d like to say to everyone: it can only get better from here: 2021 is going to be your year!

Positive change in your life starts in your home.

And since it‘s hard to start on a blank page, I thought I’d share some inspiration with you. Here are my newest instagram discoveries.

Natural & Modern

I’d love to have a sand dune in the living room. I’m obsessed with nature brought inside. It’s also one of the simple upgrade you can easily afford. It blends perfectly with your minimalistic style. And if your style isn’t minimalistic… start decluttering :)

Palms & Turquoise

How about bringing tones into your home that remind you of your favorite season? Might be shades of grey and desaturated tones if you like the fall like my wife.

My Season is the Mediterranean hot Summer, August when the crickets are singing at noon and every soul is hiding under they shadow of an umbrella at the beach.

Do you feel the heat spreading from those pretty photos?

Bold & Warm

I love the design language of the fixed furniture, the rounded edge of that portal, the fine grain and texture of that ceiling…

It seems like it’s whispering strength and simplicity, a good start if you want your home to feel cozy. This style works best for you if you can’t live with compromises

Squares & Circles

Do you see how pleasing the contrast between strong bold natural materials and the warmth of light and textiles. I can feel the breeze from here.

By the way it’s the perfect time to de-clutter, in case you thought i didn’t mean it…

European Classic

This is the quintessence of the European Noblesse design style modernized with Nordic values. Don’t be afraid to implement some of the ideas in your home.

Floors can be expensive to remake. Walls make up a lot of the visible surface. So my tipp is to start with simple and affordable elements such as wall panels, curtains and paint in the living spaces.

For the best contrast, leave the marble and other luxurious materials for the bathroom and kitchen.

Masculine & Edgy

This one is for the boys out there. See how contrasts play an important role to keep it balanced. Stone and wood work best together so give up on that cool monochrome style, because “color’s for girls”.

There are still plenty of hues of most colors that fit into a masculine home. Keep it reduced and you’ll make every visitor go “didn’t know you’ve got style!”

It’s easy to find your 2021 style. It’s much harder to implement it in your existing home.

Holistically

Quick zoom out.

When designing interiors I get asked by clients what my inspiration is. It’s easy: it’s the Architecture, the location, the culture, the people it’s for, their story, dreams and aspirations

This is a shout out to one of the best shows I’ve been binging lately. It made me discover Australia. I didn’t know it had one of the best combination of Nordic, Classical European, Nordic, Mediterranean and Asian Tropical design language. Big love! Keep up the amazing curation.

Feminine

This one is for the girls out there… and my grandma. She would kill to get her bathroom transformed into a spa. She sent me this profile over instagram at least a dozen times since she got her own smartphone. Don’t tell her but I’m planing a surprise remake for her and Nina Takesh has been my go to inspiration source.

If you have a grandma to surprise, let me know

Pro Tip #1: Start with one room at a time, finish it before moving on to the next and try to get better along the way.

Maximalist

Now this one is for the few select.

You don’t have to like the worldwide-five-star-hotel-suite style shown here but it’s a great way to study the elements of high end design.

Treating every surface, item

Earthy

This one goes beyond welcoming nature inside your home. It seams like the only reference is the sandy ground of Mexico or somewhere in the Balearen islands. It’s hard to tell how old the classical elements are because it’s so well integrated. The open shower in the last image is pulling you in, just as much as the bathtub in the upper row is inviting you to jump in.

this is the kind of feeling I want to create in my clients homes. You can achieve that too if you focus on the overall experience of each room.

Pro Tip #2: Don’t get ahead of yourself, by starting with the most difficult and expensive rooms: the kitchen and bathroom.
